Emergency Medicine Physician - Western Hospital, Alberton

THE POSITION:


•    Full-time Physician position assigned to the Emergency Department (ED) at Western Hospital located in the town of Alberton, Prince Edward Island

•    As an Emergency Medicine Physician, you will be responsible to provide the full scope of emergency medicine services to the patients attending the Western Hospital Emergency Department.

•    Western Hospital Emergency Department emergency services are available from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.  From 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., it is a Collaborative Emergency Centre.

•    The Emergency Medicine Physician will work with one other Physician who is assigned to the ED and other Family Physicians in the community who participate in the on-call schedule.

•    Western Hospital provides laboratory, diagnostic imaging, pharmacy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy dialysis and nutrition counseling.

JOB DUTIES:

•    12 hour shifts  from 8:00am to 8:00pm  followed by overnight in-patient coverage from 8:00pm to 8:00am




REMUNERATION:   

•    $175.00 per hour
•    28% of fee-for-service shadow-billing based on the Master Agreement between the Government of Prince Edward Island, Health PEI and the Medical Society of PEI.
•    Additional separate billing fees from third party payers (Workers Compensation, Quebec and International patients).

QUALIFICATIONS: 
  
•    Preference will be given to candidates with CCFP (EM). Preference will be given to candidates with extensive Emergency Department experience.
•    Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of PEI
•    Work experience preferable.

Alberton, a fishing, farming, and business community, is a town nestled in Prince County on the northwest shore of Prince Edward Island.  Alberton is known for its arts and culture (its murals provide this constant reminder), events, and businesses, and is minutes away from Northport Harbour

To drive to Alberton, one can take the North Cape Coastal Drive — a beautiful and natural coastal drive to view the Island’s white and red sand beaches; towering red sandstone capes; and essential coastal stops to breathe in the breathtaking views.
