Locum - Physiatrist - Charlottetown

THE POSITION: Locum



Health PEI is seeking Physiatry locum physicians to help fill a complement of two specialists.  The position is located in the Physical Medicine Department of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, a 243 bed facility, located in Charlottetown. The Queen Elizabeth Hospital is the Island’s major referral hospital and serves approximately 60,000 people. The Hospital provides services in Radiology, Anesthesia, Psychiatry, Physiatry, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Pediatrics, Oncology, Surgery, Pathology, Laboratory Medicine and Emergency Services.
   
The position's clinical activities include inpatient rehabilitation with an experienced interdisciplinary team on the Provincial Rehabilitation Unit, and ambulatory care (including amputee, orthotics, EMG, musculoskeletal and other clinics).

HOURS OF WORK:


8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week).

JOB DUTIES:  


To provide a referral service to general practitioners in physiatry.

REMUNERATION:


The physician can choose fee for service or contract for service payment modality.  Contract for service rate is $127.12 - 145.62/hour.  For more information regarding Physicial Medicine Tariff Fees, follow the link to the Master Agreement

INCENTIVES:


  • Return travel based on economy airfare.  If traveling by car, mileage rates are determined by PEI Treasury Board Policy and cannot exceed economy airfare. 
  • Coverage of licensing fees with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of PEI and the Medical Society of PEI. 
  • Locum support stipend to offset the cost of accommodations and other living expenses:  $200/day worked June-September and $150/day worked October-May up to a maximum of $7500 per fiscal year.  Physicians must complete the Locum Support Stipend form to receive these funds. 
  • Arrangements and payment for car rental and accommodations are the responsibility of the physician.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada eligibility or certification.
  • Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of PEI.
  • Work experience preferable.
