Medical Oncologist or Hematologist

  • Health PEI is seeking a Medical Oncologist or Hematologist to join a small multidisciplinary oncology team.  While either specialty will be considered, some degree of cross coverage is required.  Therefore, broader interests and experience would be an asset.  Treating benign haemotology diseases is optional. 
  • The PEI Cancer Treatment Centre is a small but modern medical and radiation oncology facility attached to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown.  Medical oncology services are provided at a satellite centre in Summerside.

  • 8:00 am - 4:00 pm for 37.5 hours per week.

  • Participation in on-call services as outlined by the Division of Medical Oncology. 
  • Provide referral services for family physicians in the province in Medical Oncology.

  • Physicians have the option of choosing salary or contract for service payment modality.  Salary is $340,000. For additional information regarding payment modalities, contact the Physician Recruitment Coordinator.

  • Return-in-Service Grant and Moving Expense allowance available. 
  • Teaching medical students and residents is an option, and appointments with Dalhousie University and Memorial University medical schools are available.
  • PEI has province-wide electronic health record giving access to lab reports, radiology reports and images, and physician notes.

  • The successful candidate must have certificaion by Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or equivalent training considered acceptable to the RSCPC.
  • Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of PEI.  This may include a requirement to work towards certification by the RSCPC during employment.
  • US Boards also acceptable.
