Family Physician - Tyne Valley

THE POSITION:

  • Position is located in Tyne Valley located in the western part of the province. The physician will work out of the new Tyne Valley Health Centre
  • Responsible for the delivery of general family medicine services


HOURS OF WORK:

  • 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday at the Health Centre


REQUIREMENT FOR HOSPITAL/ON-CALL WORK:

  • Evening and weekend walk-in clinics
  • Inpatient coverage for 4 acute care beds, 3 convalescent beds, 3 respite beds and 12 long-term care beds at the Stewart Memorial Hospital
  • Coverage is shared with the other full-time physician


REMUNERATION:
 

  • Salaried Position - $138,982 probationary - after 6 months $143,384
  • $150 daily on-call retainer plus fee for service shall be provided for Stewart Memorial Hospital
  • 22 % of shadowed billed claims per quarter as a bonus ( $18,750 or more in claims over a three month period)
  • CME benefits and leave
  • Vacation leave
  • Full package of benefits including:  special leave, life insurance, sick leave, deferred salary plan, statutory holidays, continuing medical education, health and dental plan, long-term disability and RRSP/pension plan contributions


INCENTIVES:

  • $30,000 plus an additional $5000 for coverage of a rural practice in return for 2 years of committed practice
  • Moving allowance, $10,000 minimum and $20,000 maximum
  • Opportunity to teach through the PEI Family Resident Training Program with a faculty appointment with Dalhousie University
  • Electronic patient record system

QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Possession of MCCEE, MCCQE Part I and MCCQE Part II as well as at least 1-2 years of clinical experience working in Canada. CCFP physicians will be given priority.
  • Physicians who have trained and have full licensure in the United States, England, Scotland, Australia and South Africa have eligibility to apply.
