The Health Recruitment and Retention Secretariat provides health human resource planning and undertakes recruitment and retention efforts to meet the current and future needs for physicians, nurses and allied health professions.

There are many health career opportunities available on Prince Edward Island. PEI offers an integrated community-based health system which includes a wide variety of services such as acute care, home care, public health, addictions and mental health. The Island has two main referral acute care facilities (Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown and Prince County Hospital, Summerside) and five rural hospitals (Souris Hospital, Souris; Kings County Memorial Hospital, Montague; Stewart Memorial Hospital, Tyne Valley; Western Hospital, Alberton; and Community Hospital, OLeary) that play an integral role in Island health care.
